Accessability & Facilities
The Victorian Street market runs through the centre of the town within the pedestrianised area on Friday & Saturday and also continues along Sherrard Street, that has been closed to traffic (except if there is an emergency) on the Sunday. All areas are relatively flat surfaced, with only a cobbled street (Church Street) to St. Mary's Church, Burton Street Carpark and Parkside Coach Park, but there is other access routes to avoid these cobbles.
Visitors with registered Assistance Dogs
As the Christmas Market can be very busy and may not be a suitable environment for dogs, therefore we do not allow dogs at the event except for assistance dogs.
Most of the car parks in the town centre have a number of disabled parking bays. Please see our car parking information page for a list of these car parks.
The town centre provides Standard Accessible public toilets which can be found at St Mary’s Way car park and Wilton Road car park.
These toilets have full facilities for disabled persons and those with ambulant needs. A radar key enables access to the disabled toilets outside of the normal opening times Both toilets are attended during opening hours and a charge of 30p is made for adult use. No charge is made for children under the age of 16. Baby changing facilities are provided at each site.
People with profound and multiple learning disabilities cannot use standard accessible toilets. Standard accessible toilets do not provide changing benches or hoists. A Changing Places toilet facility can be found in the Melton Carnegie Museum and is open during museum opening times and at Melton Mowbray Mencap & Gateway.
There will be medical and welfare facilities on site for all visitors.
